Motor Driver ( IC L293 and L293D )
These two devices are made by four logic gates, high current capacity and half-H driver. An H-bridge is an electronic circuit which help to drive motor in clockwise or anticlockwise direction. The L293 is designed to provide bidirectional drive currents of up to 1 A at voltages from 4.5 V to 36 V. The L293D is designed to provide bidirectional drive currents of up to 600-mA at voltages from 4.5 V to 36 V.
Pin Description of L293 and L293D
Pin number 1 and 9 are used to enable driver channel 1, 2 and 3,4 respectively by applying active high input.
Pin number 2, 7, 10 and 15 these are driver input pins.
Pin number 3, 6, 11 and 14 are driver output pins.
Pin number 4, 5, 12 and 13 are device ground and heat sink pins these pins are used to dissipate heat from IC.
Pin number 16 is used to give input voltage for driver 4.5 V to 16 V.
Pin number 8 is used as input voltage pin for logical circuit.
