Final year project ideas — with the design, not just the title

Every project here comes with a block diagram, the sizing calculations worked through with their formulas, a costed bill of materials, an honest effort estimate and the viva questions your examiner will ask. Tell it your budget, your weeks and what your lab actually has, and it will tell you which of these you can finish.

Why these are not a list of titles

  • Every number is worked, not quoted. The kVAr a capacitor bank needs, the inductor for a buck converter, the torque a tracker sees in wind — each with its formula, its assumptions and its arithmetic, ready for your design chapter.
  • The cost includes what parts lists leave out. Spares for what you destroy, wire and connectors, the board, and printing and binding. That is where project budgets actually go.
  • The limitations are written down. What the method cannot do, what will go wrong, and what an examiner will press you on. A project you can defend beats one that merely switches on.
  • No reports, no source code dumps. Writing it is your work and your marks. What is here is the engineering you need to do it.

Electrical & Electronics (EEE), Electronics & Communication (ECE), Electronics & Instrumentation (EIE), Mechatronics — projects whose core is electrical or electronic. There is no computer science, civil or mechanical section here, and that is deliberate: this site can verify a sizing calculation and a protection scheme, and it cannot verify a structural design or a machine learning benchmark. A list nobody checked is the thing these pages exist not to be.

Every project is tagged for the courses it is normally taken in — Diploma project (C-20, 6th sem); B.E. mini project (5th/6th sem); B.E. final year project (7th/8th sem) — and the ones sized for a different course still list the extensions that scope them up or down.

Every project page ends with viva questions and full answers, because the demonstration is only half the assessment. Cost bands are indicative and were last checked in August 2026; the cheapest way to reduce them is to borrow the motor, the variac and the CRO from your lab rather than buying them — most of the large lines here are lab equipment. Typical all-in cost across the catalogue is around Rs 13,874.
